The Road (Less Traveled) to Love

image001 copyThe most frequently asked question I get, hands down, is “Where can I go to meet people?” This is usually followed by comments about all the places and websites the person asking the question has gone to without success.

Charley and I met when he was the photographer for a graphics design studio that was doing work for me. The first time we actually had a conversation more than “hi,” was when he helped me lift a heavy chair onto a borrowed truck and then helped me deliver it to a garage sale 20 miles away.

In my wildest dreams, I never could have imagined—let alone planned for—how we would meet. “Let me see, I’ll write down here that I’ll meet Mr. Right at a graphics studio near where I live. Oh, and then he’ll help me move a chair to a garage sale! (Yeah, right.)”

Here’s the point: The circumstances that ultimately bring you together are NOT important. What IS important is knowing what you want in a relationship when you arrive, and getting rid of the mental garbage that gets in the way.

Plan and prepare, but allow for destiny, fate, and the joy and wonderment of the unexpected to intervene. Besides, what game worth playing is any fun if you know all there is to know about it?!
